How Can I Stop Worrying and Start Living?

In this post and (YouTube video) and as part of my new InnerFitness® YouTube Weekly Question, I will answer the following question asked by one of you, the wonderful readers, viewers, and subscribers alike.

So here it is: How can I stop worrying and start living my life?

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned in life, it’s that worry does nothing but hold us back from achieving our goals, dreams, and aspirations. In this video, I’m going to answer your question by showing you five simple steps you can take to stop worrying and start living.

Worry is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere. Worrying only serves our anxiety and stress about things that haven’t even happened yet. Instead of worrying, we should take life by the horns and enjoy everything that it offers.

Here are five powerful steps to stop worrying and start living your life:

DON’T TAKE LIFE SO SERIOUSLY. Worrying only causes us unnecessary stress, pain, and suffering. If we can learn to laugh at ourselves and the situation, we’ll worry less and be happier. We all worry from time to time – it’s only natural. Whether it’s worrying about an upcoming test or worrying about what other people think of us, worry is a common emotion that we all experience. However, worry can also lead to anxiety, stress, and even depression. So why worry? The simple answer is that we shouldn’t. Life is too short to worry about things that we can’t control. Instead, we should focus on the things that make us happy. So next time you worry, take a step back and remind yourself that life is too short to worry. Laugh at yourself and the situation, you’ll worry less, and you’ll even feel happier. That I promise!

LEARN TO LIVE IN THE PRESENT MOMENT. We usually worry about future events that may or may not happen. If we focus on living in the present moment, we’ll worry less about the future and be more present for the things happening in our lives now. As I mentioned earlier, it’s no secret that worry can be a major source of stress and anxiety. Whether we’re worried about an upcoming test or worry about what might happen in the future, worry can take a toll on our happiness and well-being. One way to combat worry is to learn to live in the present moment. When we focus on the here and now, we’re less likely to worry about things that may or may not happen in the future. Instead, we can savor the wonderful moments and be more present with the things happening in our lives right now. Learn to be mindful of your worry. Acknowledge your worry and try to understand why you’re feeling this way. Once you understand the root cause of your concern, you can address it. So next time you worry about the future, take a deep breath and focus on the present moment. You’ll be glad you did.

DON’T SUPPRESS YOUR FEELINGS. This is unhealthy and can only make things worse. Instead, accept that worry is a part of life, and as I said earlier, focus on what’s already here and now.

CHALLENGE YOUR WORRY. Once you’ve identified your worry, ask yourself whether it’s really justified. Sometimes we worry about things that are unlikely to happen or that we have no control over. Challenging your worry can help you see it in a different light. If your worry is based on something that could actually happen, take steps to prevent it from happening. For example, if you’re worried about failing an exam, start studying now so you’ll be better prepared. Or if you are concerned about getting overweight, start exercising and eating healthier.

DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY EVERY DAY. When we make time for activities that make us happy, we worry less and enjoy life more. Choose activities that divert your mind from excessive worrying. I like to keep a full schedule that includes breaks to refuel and rejuvenate. Things such as exercising, meditating, or writing.

Happiness is a choice that we make every day, so choose to be happy! If you’re not happy with your life, change it! You have the power to choose happiness every day, so why not do something that makes you happy?

It doesn’t have to be something big or expensive – it can be something as simple as going for a walk in the park or reading your favorite book. When we make time for activities that make us happy, we worry less and enjoy life more. So don’t put off happiness—step into it!
